My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Greece | Sunday, January 6, 2013 | 5 photos
I grew up travelling the world and watching my father capturing it on film. From a young girl he installed in me the importance of travel and encouraged me to go out and experience other cultures.
When I was 23 I decided to study something that I was passionate about and that was photography. When the course finished I packed up and moved to London for two years to live and travel.
During this time I was a free soul. Although I couldn’t find work in photography over there I relished the opportunity, gaining a bar job, saving up and taking off on little adventures when I could.
Even though I was the poorest I’ve ever been it was one of the best experiences of my life. Being able to travel and photograph at the same time was more fulfilling for me then any other job I had done.
Photography gave me the creative outlet that I had been searching for. There was nothing like capturing the shot I was after and nothing makes me happier than when I look through my travel photographs and edit them.
Whether I make this my career or keep it as just a passion this scholarship is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to be mentored by the best and grow my own skills and knowledge.
