Clear-fell logging is being conducted in the Toolangi State Forest. These heavy-duty logging machines do not stay idle for long. Logging contractors have been known to work around the clock, seven days a week.

Toolangi State Forest, located in the Central Highlands of Victoria is a cool temperate forest making it highly carbon dense. Unlike the rainforests of the tropics the organic matter in these forests take a relatively slow time to decay.

Local resident and forest educator Steve Meacher stands in what was once Mountain Ash forest and Tree fern gullies in Rusty coupe, Toolangi. Steve now campaigns full time to save the forest from further logging and is the president of the Friends of Leadbeatters committe and a spokesperson for the Great Forests National Park proposal.
