My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Sounds help me earn my bread but images help me feed my soul!
I'm an Indian engineer working with sounds in Korea with a passion for photography in general and the nature in particular. During the past few years, I've increasingly come to realize the fact that photos and documentary films on wildlife tend to compress time and focus on the prominent and the mighty.
My attempt has always been to bring out the things people would normally consider insignificant and capture time as it is. In this set of pictures, I focus on the emotions displayed by the cubs during a rainy afternoon in Masai Mara. I tried to capture their playful inquisitiveness and yet the fragility of their existence.
If I do make it, I wish to learn how to visualize and document the stories that are never told. A few pictures probably won't change the world but even if it touches a few people and inspires them, it’s worth it.
In today’s world there is a massive conflict between development and the need to preserve the environment. Most of the time people are motivated by immediate gains, in many occasions forced by circumstances. What I ultimately want to achieve through photography is to present a balanced yet honest perspective to the viewer. To bring to them the truth that they willfully or unwillingly ignored.
