My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Ever since I remember I was surrounded by cameras: Analogue, digital, SLR, compact. It was only a matter of time that I got fascinated by this art.
For me this contest is a unique opportunity. WHY?
Because I tried a lot to improve my talent, but due to language barriers it is not possible for me to study Photography here in Lisbon.
I love this city, its spirit, the light in the streets, the places besides the tourist attractions, the old houses and their history. And I would love to keep their soul in my pictures.
Another reason why I really want to win this contest is that I want to change my life. I want to help people which are not as fortunate as I am. I want to keep wonderful, fascinating, breath-taking, sad, happy, shocking and even depressing moments for myself, my family, friends and strangers. I want them to think about their life and start changing the same.
I want to learn more about different cultures and of course I want to improve my current knowledge and develop my photography, me as a person and I want to overcome my shyness towards asking people of being allowed to photograph them.
I expect that I will learn a lot what helps me realising my dreams and as mentioned above develop myself. I want to know more about light, time and the “perfect moment”.
After the scholarship I hope to be able to start studying Portuguese language first for then not having any barriers to study my passion.
Maybe my reasons are not the most powerful, but they are simple and I believe with all my heart that I can be able to win this contest because I have a strong will and I believe in me and my talent.
