Sunday 9/18 @ 220pm Sora, Italia
Well, as my new friend Michelle said, you certainly lose track of the days around here. So far, everything has pretty much been the same day to day, with a few variations at night. On the 16th, we had quite the night celebrating deiciseis. One of the guys at the Mogli is from Mexico, so that night, the volunteers from the house helped get dinner ready, but we hiked to the Mogli and ate dinner with the "wild children" lol. By the time we got there, it was dark, so we ended up eating by the light of two boys' headlamps. There was lots of wine and sangria and lots of "Viva Mexico" and maybe a few toasts to France. After a few hours, the face paint was brought out and we all ended up with some sort of design on our faces in mexican colored face paint (which is also italia colors?...). I had a french mustache, so I was quite confused as to what holiday we were celebrating. Then, after a little more wine, the dog, Beroni, also ended up with some face paint on. The next morning, when I had completely forgotten we had decorated the dog, I came downstairs and almost died when I saw him sitting outside. The guest noticed as well the next morning and when they asked the owner why, Antonello told them that the volunteers will celebrate any holiday because it is an excuse to drink more wine. He told them that tonight we were celebrating the Somalia Independence Day (which wasn't true).
The past few days I've been eating a lot of figs because they are slowing getting more ripe, and I definitely don't want any to go to waste.
