My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I live in Sydney Australia and was first introduced to photography in the mid 90's while studying fine art . After seeing the magic of an image appearing in chemicals for the first time I was hooked on photography.
I love travel photography and one of my favorite travel memories was while traveling in Vietnam,I hired a motorcycle and rode about an hour away from the main tourist area of Hoi Ann, where i met a family who invited me in for lunch.we communicated with the aid of a phrase book and sign language and they asked me to take a family portrait.
when I arrived back in Sydney a few months later , I met up with a friend who told me he was traveling to Vietnam so i gave him an 8x10 photograph along with the address and asked him to deliver it for me.
To my surprise on his return a few months later he gave me a letter written in Vietnamese saying they had the photograph framed and is hanging on their wall and if you ever come back to Vietnam you are welcome to stay with us.
To be a photographer for National Geographic,travel the world, meet people from different cultures and be mentored by Jason would be a lifetime dream come true for me.
