My Photo scholarship 2010 entry
Worldwide | Sunday, October 17, 2010 | flickr photos
My name is Stefica.
I was born and raised in Sydney, Australia.
This group of photos was taken while I was walking the Camino Frances, across Northern Spain, last year. My journey took 33 days and 795 kilometres. I started at the village of Roncesvalles and finished at the city of Santiago de Compostela.
It was one of the best things that I have ever done.
These photos are about worship. They are about the churches along the way, and the people that bring them to life.
I didn't prepare enough physically for the Camino and the churches really helped me out. They were somewhere I could sit down, take off my backpack and rest.
They were quiet and cool.
And it was so interesting to watch people coming and going.
Who am I?
Well, I really love walking, hiking, trekking. Hiking across Spain, trekking across Tasmania, walking my dog.
I love travelling and am currently doing my Masters in journalism, while working full-time.
I don't go anywhere without my camera tripod.
I want to win this competition because I am not the best photographer in the world (I can hear the gasps of horror!) Seriously, I really love photography, waiting for and then taking that shot that you've been looking and waiting all day for or even longer.
I have so many questions to ask about photography and being a photographer!
I would love to learn from the best and that is definitely National Geographic. My father use to collect National Geographic magazines and I remember leafing through them as a child and wishing that one day I could visit all those exotic places...Bhutan is still on that list.
I want to win this competition because I want to learn the ropes and get "on the job" training and experience. And! I would love to see Bhutan.
Thankyou so much for viewing my photos.
