Cambodia | Thursday, January 10, 2013 | 5 photos

I always believe, people should be and always travel.

I have a dream. A dream that I can see and know other people live in another continent. As a 25 year old boy, I always want to travel to another place. My dream was traveling to every island in my country Indonesia. Meet another people, learn how they live, is such wonderful thing.

My photography era was began 5 year ago in college. Since then I want to become travel photographer. From my viewfinder I wish I can “see” not just look at my object. From my eyes, I learn and emphatic to another way of life that my object had through. With my camera, I tried to travel to another city in my country. I trying to bring my photography to next level with join national and international photo workshop.

In this photo series, I’m interesting in Sank Yant Tatto culture in Cambodia. Here are young monk that live in shrine near Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Cambodia. Sank Yant is traditional tattoo that believe can protect the owner. Love, protection, and power are common purpose Khmer people to have Sank Yant tattoo. Cultural theme is my favorite subject. This sank yant tattoo in dangerous thin line disappear because of modern civilization in Siem Reap.

Today, I work as freelance automotive writer in on-line media. Yes i know it have a wrong way with my purpose but my photographic and traveler dream never stop. I always believe I should get a chance to become a traveler photographer but the chance not yet come to me. So I heard about this scholarship with Jason Edward and I wish I can fulfill my dream to be an explorer.

With the powerful of an image, we should move somebody heart to love our earth more and more.
