My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited "Gojal-Hunza"

Pakistan | Friday, January 11, 2013 | 5 photos

A young Geographer from Hunza valley at the extreme north of Pakistan. Traveling and photography is my passion but have desire to be with National Geographic team to learn the real spirit of photography, the techniques to capture the natural beauty of Hunza valley and really work for them too. I loved to travel in the mountains of Karakorum and Himalayas and to take photograph of the geographic phenomena. I am working to promote tourism in the region and to share the natural and cultural beauty to the nature lovers, I want to be a professional photographer in my field in future.
Life has become very hard after Attabad land slide disaster, thousands of tourist were visiting Hunza valley ever year but the valley is now land locked for last three years, there were two suspension bridges, the most attractive tourist spots submerged in Attabad lake, the photographs I am sharing are the around trip of the affected areas, where five villages submerged in Attabad lake (23 kms) formed by the blockade of Hunza river on January 4th, 2010, I am working as a volunteer for suffering communities since then and capturing the ground realities and sharing photographs and video clips with humanitarian community through a video blog; www.gulbtur.wordpress.com, www.local.com.pk/hunza
I always try to do something unique in my spatial world but I am not expert in photography, it would be a great opportunity if I am selected for this scholarship to learn the new techniques from National Geographic travelers. I wish to be with them in Oman and hopefully this visit will give us opportunity to capture the people and places of a new world.
