Seventy Revolutions

Monkey Island

Vietnam | Saturday, June 29, 2013 | 3 photos

I aim to live till 100 years old. In theory, the earth should revolve around the sun 70 more times before I die. On a universal scope this is just a spec, but I plan on using my grain of time to walk in as many shoes as I can. I currently reside by the sea and climb cliffs, looking for caves beyond the fishermen’s point to explore. Sometimes I sit by rock pools and hand feed anemones to see what they’ll eat (they don’t like cashew nuts). I have an addiction to fossicking for animal bones and natural specimens - my best find so far is an entire kangaroo skeleton. I’m a graphic designer, illustrator and amateur photographer, spending hours up trees and laying in mud to get close to my subjects (often insects).

The words ‘rough, real, remote’ get me all hot and bothered for Greenland. I think Jason would appreciate my verve for learning, lust for the outdoors and commitment to understanding what makes a photograph evoke emotion. I hope to return with images of musk ox breathing down my lens, arctic hares snuggling down frozen holes and hunters chasing their prey. Most of all I want to become a better narrator of life, and perhaps mature into a mentor myself.
