A mystic adventure through the alleys of Medina

I wanted to capture the lifestyle of the people who lived in a labyrinth, who had no reason to look up the time; everybody was welcoming, friendly and curious and so was I. It is their home I visited; I never had to enter a door and automatically was everybody’s guest and friend.

I followed a stranger, a mother and her child, chasing through the alleys of love. With distance, I observed how the woman hit a door buckle in a melody as if it was a secret knock, to assure the person on the other side, that it is her who just arrived. As I waited with the mother, the door opened and three kids and two older women stepped out and greeted her and the baby with kisses and hugs. The sense of warmth and love raised and then they all disappeared behind that black metal door. All the sudden it was quiet again….

Mystic and magic happens, stepping over the edge of an entrance in those alleys. I have never been in a room like this, I did not dare to touch anything, I was stunned by its beauty and reflection of the mirrors. Until a salesman appeared who tried to make a living, like all the others who are living in those alleys, Farmers, Tailors, Butchers, Artist or craftsmen who made me feel as I traveled back in time to a different century. The magic of this adventure will stay forever in those pictures.
