My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Ukraine | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
As a political asylum recipient, I immigrated to the US 18 years ago from the former Soviet Union with nothing more than what I could carry in my suitcase. When I arrived, I quickly grasped the language, overcame the barriers, excelled in my high school and was accepted into Lehigh University on a 4 year, full-scholarship, becoming the first member of my immigrant family to obtain an American education.
Over the years, I was fortunate to have several photography exhibitions, a few of my pieces were purchased by the Marriott Hotel chain for lobby decorations. Additionally, one of my photographs was chosen as one of twelve photographs from among hundreds of thousands to be displayed on the WWW.OPRAH.COM February 2008 on-line journal issue.
My love for travel can only be matched by my desire to capture the unique flavor of each city and country I visit with my camera – the people, the architecture, the culture and the magnificent views. As a result, the majority of my photography comes from the various cities and countries I have lived in and visited: United States, Ukraine, Holland, France, Belgium, Spain, England, Scotland, Germany, Austria, Georgia and beyond…
