My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Worldwide | Sunday, August 15, 2010 | 5 photos

Granted there is the passion for capturing the moment for any photographer, and granted there is the equipment you can have to capture the moment, also granted there is the ideal location or subject to capture the moment. But when you do and have brought all of these elements together and you get THE picture you were hoping for is there anything better. To visit Europe, to travel to Fussen in the Alpine foothills of Barvia and visit Neuschwanstein Ludwig II beloved fantasy castle was one such moment in January of this year. The 5 photo's I have selected are from a day, as an amateur photographer, I will never forget. Since only learning techniques and terms like 'depth of field' and 'scene set ups' in the past year when I arrived at the castle I was immediately looking for more than just shots of the castle. My 1st photo's shows how I looked for something extra to add to the shot to give depth of field and the lamp post was ideal to add to the distant castle and to get the shot before the snow started to fall has made this one of more memorial captures (within 3 minutes of this photo it was a complete whiteout for hours). I learnt on that day that it is not easy to focus when it is snowing! The subsequent shots are other scenes around the castle trying to capture untouched snow while tourist tramp about, frozen trees and the mystical views from within the castle looking out on pathways, arches and stairways of times gone by while shooting through 150 year old glass. I loved photography, I love travel, the two together are a perfect combination to feed my soul. I am a fit 46 year female with older teenage sons and a fabulous husband who all want me to follow my passions. Bhutan is on my life list to visit and photograph on adventurous and spiritual levels ... Carola
