My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
United Kingdom | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
I have always been passionate about photography. It was more of a hobby however as I never really thought I had the creativity or the courage to pursue a field in it. It wasn't until I decided to quit the job I disliked and go back to school for photography that I fully embraced my passion. The idea of it was scary as I was leaving my hometown in Texas and moving across the pond to London to pursue a dream I never knew I really had. It has been three years now here in London and I couldn't imagine wanting to do anything else. Photography has become my voice, its how I work through life experiences and how I express who I am and how I or others are feeling. It is however a struggle to get into this field. Something I have learned along the way. This scholarship would be an experience of a lifetime for me. I have always wanted to work for National Geographic as I have a passion for travel and learning about and experiencing other cultures. Being able to get hands on experience in the field and mentored by a talented photographer is a rare opportunity. It would help me grow as a photographer and show me what its like to be a travel and documentary photographer, something I dream of.
