La_Puna

My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Worldwide | Sunday, October 17, 2010 | flickr photos

These photos were taken on a self drive trip across the high, barren expanse of La Puna in Argentina’s North West - An extremely transient environment that is slowly coming under threat due to mining interests in the area....

The Puna, has in many ways its own distinct beauty, yet its not completely unique. Life here goes on in the face of enormous of odds. It is in these places that you truly come to question what it means to be alive.

For me photographing places like this is both exiting and exhilarating - i love to get off the beaten path and explore places others wouldn't want to - (that is until they see my photos!) Our world is a changing, dynamic place, full of destruction and beauty - to capture the world and the people/animals that inhabit it through photography - would be my ideal calling in life.

I started taking photographs three years ago when i got my first digital SLR and it has been a steep learning curve of which i have enjoyed every minute. What started as an interest has now grown into a passion and one i would like to continue into a career.

Bhutan has long been a country I would love to visit and the opportunity to travel to Bhutan and learn from a professional photographer would be priceless to me for furthering my photography skills. Photography is a never ending journey ive started on and one I would love to share with the world for rest of my life.
