Exploring photography When all I could do was remember I didn't care to see things. Now discovering I can capture life properly, I see more than I ever have.

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Canada | Friday, December 21, 2012 | 5 photos

My name's David and I've fallen in love with photography this past year, as result it's changed my personality in many different ways. I never used to want to travel or see places and I've only left the Canada a few times in my youth, to visit my homeland of China; the last visit being nearly 8 years ago.
By chance a year ago I decided to leave my old career to find something I was not just good at, but something that I enjoyed doing. I found myself window shopping DLSR's and bought a used 10.2mp in February. I bought every book, watched every tutorial that I could and learn how to capture life. The moment I realized I was able to capture the beauty that I was seeing, realizing that I could keep that still image to reference and share; I found a need to travel. For the first time in my life I wasn't content being a homebody, I wanted to see the world knowing that I could take with me more than memories. In the last 6 months I've met more people, taken over 10,000 photos, went camping twice and discovered literally a new world. I don't know if I have a career as a photographer but I know I'd regret the rest of my life if I didn't at least try. I want to see the world, and share it.
