My View of God...
This is the place where I believe God lives. By God, I am not talking about the stone idols kept in far off places for people to worship but a place where I believe God’s presence can be found in every inch of the structure created by the untiring hands of devotees. I consider myself lucky enough to capture the replica of their thoughts with my lens.
This temple of Lord Shiva, a Hindu Deity is gracefully placed in the lush green hands of Mother Nature. The speciality of this temple is the flowing holy water that flows all the way from Lord Shiva’s idol towards the idol of Nandi, which is the sacred Hindu bull. This holy water then pours from the bull’s mouth into a pond where devotees consume it to wash of their sins and clean their souls.
My pictures reflect the strength that lies in the hands of those masons that come from remote villages and are aloof of technology and modernity. Their use of vibrant colours emits enormous energy that elucidates their state of mind while creating such a simple yet meaningful structure. This creation is put together by a simple man living in a distant village called Kumbhawade, located in the Sindhudurga district of Maharashtra, India.
The reason why I think I should be chosen over others is because I believe that it is very easy to find stunning places around the world and capture them in your cameras but the real beauty lies in making a simple place look stunningly beautiful by clicking it with grace and elegance.
These pictures reflect the true beauty of a place which is totally handmade, untouched by any artificial exterior instruments of modernity; and I feel as an aspiring photographer one should be looking out for beauty in the subject rather than a beautiful subject.
