My Scholarship entry - Undiscovered India and hidden secrets
India | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos
As a child, I was fascinated by how photographs can tell a story: there was always a camera in the house to capture those moments to last a lifetime. Not long after I entered this world I started travelling and with constant relocations the hunger for travelling was instilled within me at a young age and my eye for detail and awareness of my surroundings were evident. As I look through the viewfinder it’s just me and the subject matter, everything else is not of importance. In that moment everything becomes a blur in my mind, a serene and tranquil place to be.
My five photographs are all captured in India on my first camera; a Pentax P30n, while I was travelling in 2013, wandering the streets of India in Chennai. I was born in India but was never introduced to the reality of some individuals who live in India whose life was already planned for them or was born into; the photographs portray individuals with different lives.
This scholarship would guide me on a path and open doors that I have only dreamed of. Additionally, working alongside and being mentored by National Geographic’s photographer, Jason Edwards would be an inspiring and an amazing adventure.
