My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Oman | Saturday, December 29, 2012 | 5 photos
I am a 58 year old retired aviation executive residing in Perth Western Australia. During the eighties I was lucky enough to represent a major British airline in a number of diverse countries including The Oman where I worked for a time in 1979. I was based at Seeb airport near Muscat but travelled widely around the country. A fascinating, untouched paradise that had not yet been opened to tourists, in fact only business visas were issued at the time as tourists weren't wanted. The old port of Muscat was unchanged in hundreds of years and the desert towns, the dry wadis, the landscape and the welcoming people an uplifting experience. The desert light in the winter months and the countless photographic opportunities fired my passion for
photography and I have developed my interest and skills since, hoping to make a living from my passion in the future. I have travelled widely since but truly feel honored to have visited The Oman and have always wanted to return. This scholarship would not only enable me to return to this amazing country but also learn so much about the art of photography.
