Catching a moment
Feet on the grass. Head on the ground. Eyes looking at the sky. My hand in his hand and lips sealed, with no words coming out, just thoughts humming in my head.
The backyard of a monastery. The church was crowded, but, once we had made our way into the forest, the sounds of the real world could no longer travel the air into our ears.
Grass smelling like nothing else. River whispering to my senses. Mountains filling my eyes. Happiness and peace pampering us. I was not able to tell him into words what that moment meant to me. But I knew that my smile exchanged impressions with his smile.
I was not that far from home. About 300 km away. Not in a foreign and remote country as I had dreamt about. Nevertheless, the mind was far away from the busy city, resting on that quietness, with no desire to go back to the real state of mind.
'I guess it’s time we went back' he finally dared to break the beautiful silence and bring me back to the world we had so willingly betrayed.
Feet slowly dragging a body still lying on that grass which smelt like nothing else. Head into thin air. Eyes still searching freedom in the sky. My hand in his hand.
