Kataragama: A sacred paradox

Hi!
I’m a raconteur. Imagination is crucial to enjoying life, and I love engaging people’s imaginations through stories, especially ones that challenge our world-view: I believe that’s the most powerful form of learning.
I love traveling - each new historical site, natural wonder, tradition, cuisine and language I experience adds an entry to my personal encyclopedia of the world, and often requires that I unlearn my own world-view.
Finally, I love photography - while the Craft (DOF, composition, exposure, etc.) is a worthy challenge that has me striving for mastery of my gear (and lusting after expensive bits of polished glass), it's the pursuit of the Art - "how to capture a picture worthy of a 1000 words?" - that makes the back-breaking effort of lugging around my gear a labor of love.
So, how come I never considered becoming a travel photographer? Travel, take pictures, tell stories AND get paid for it?
I don’t know. Jason, please kick me for not connecting the dots!
Until then, I’ll just ponder the serendipity of discovering this competition at the same time I decided to cull work hours at my regular job so I’d have more time to pursue my dreams, one of which is to earn money from photography!
PS I have an ambition to visit more countries than my age, which means I should visit a new country every year. I’ve not been to Oman yet. Just sayin’ ;)
