Postcards From The Valley

I'm a filmmaker, writer and photographer based in New Delhi, India. For as long as I can remember, I've loved a story well told, be it my grandmother's fables or those Grimm Brothers fairytales I read when I was a kid. It wasn't long before I realised, though, that I loved telling stories just as much I loved listening to them. My father's passion for photography trickled down to me early on too, so filmmaking seemed like the obvious choice.
A lot, of course, has changed since I made that decision. My motivations, my skill, my perspective. What hasn't, though, is one rule. One that was also, by a happy coincidence, reiterated by one of my favourite documentary filmmakers Werner Herzog. That life is best experienced on foot. Its something that's stayed with me all these years, and it's what I want to base my life on. I believe that every story we choose to tell borrows something from our own life experiences. And what better way to add to those experiences and constantly make them richer, than to travel?
And so, over the past couple of years, I've taken multiple trips around my country, and its unbelievable just how many people I've met, how many friends I've made and how many stories I've been made privy to. And so I sit here right now, typing this message to you, a much wiser kid than I was three years ago, hoping to continue meeting people, hearing stories and passing them on to the world in the form of films. And this application is a vital extension to that endeavour.
