My Scholarship entry - A local encounter that changed my life

11 am November, hum, rattle, the night is crimson and the darkness is sultry despite the perceptible traces of winter. Our will works like fuel to the vehicle, just keeps us watchful and warm.

And the door is getting closed. Darkness, like that one of closed eyes on a summer`s afternoon. We are looking for any free places to sit, altough they said it takes just five minutes to reach the chinese border. As we are moving further, my head just hit the roof. My God, we are in the luggage rack!

We are squeezed with other dozens of people and somthing is stinky...fish or rotten cabbage..I feel the hot, dead air touching my face, what conquered the amount of kazak oxygen what the bus sniffed up from that post soviet world. My head is dizzy and my fur is going to be one with my skin bridging three pulovers...vertigo ...my backpack is getting slimmer under me, I cannot keep my backbone straight, my neck is curving, my head is too heaavy...and in a crack , I`ve got it, they are taking us to the rice fields, for slavery...my body is giving up...when a harsh white light is beating me alive, blindness. I lost my body, but right now I feel calm, hearing my soul`s cajoling voice...flamboyant prodigy...my soul is taking my look and spreading at the people surrouding me...people!Eyes, full with honour, clearness, chenese elder grandmother doubled on her sack..she is smiling her face gracefully into wrinkless, wants to tell me something to make me peaceful, but she can`t...from the other corner a middle aged russian man is staring at me, trying to imagine where did I came from., but he is calm too like everyone... the light became dim, from a calculating machine what can speak from a chenese little boy`s hand.

I`m getting accustomed with the people, saying good bye to my mom and just breathing, slowly, I`m not worried anymore, because I`m seeing something in their eyes what haven`t seen before , I`m on my way...

and the bus stopped, I`m not a slave, I`ve just been in China!
