Capturing People's Lives

After The Quake ~ Sita Bhujel

NEPAL | Saturday, 22 August 2015 | Views [217] | Scholarship Entry

I began filming when my country, Nepal was devastated in the earthquake of April 2015. The film that I submitted with this application is about how people are coping after the earthquake had destroyed their homes and daily lives. I would like to make mores films like this that tell personal stories about the hardships that people deal with because I believe the mainstream media only wants to cover stories that are profitable to them.

The Travel Film Scholarship program is perfect for me to improve my filmmaking skills and also explore the beautiful country of Colombia and its amazing culture. Being an amateur filmmaker, I believe a professional mentorship under this program would be vital for me to continue making films in the future. I have been told that I have a good eye in capturing shots and I've also been praised for my work. My films have also helped a lot in fundraising for the earthquake victims of Nepal.

If given this opportunity, I would be delighted to be able to travel to Colombia, as I have never been to South America before.

Thank you for considering my application.
