Studies show that the causes of food insecurity of a significant portion of the Brazilian population resulting directly, lack of access to food, whether through lack of access to means of production or lack of work and income needed to purchase markets. It is within this broader context that the production of consumption for food and nutritional security of families must be defined. It should be emphasized that this production is not only practiced by families living in rural areas, but also by many of those located in urban and suburban areas.
