The vastly different world of Morocco

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Worldwide | Monday, November 7, 2011 | 5 photos

I breathe photography. Everywhere I look, I see photos waiting to be taken. I love how pictures tell a story, transport you far away or radically change your perspective. They play on emotions, evoking feelings of calm, rage, vulnerability, fear and joy. You see a place and you wish you were there. You spy a person and you wonder who they are.
These pictures capture a calm side of Morocco. Of all the places I have traveled to, Morocco was the most stressful. It is an intense and raucous place. It was an amazing experience to see a calm side of the country, where people were living their lives peacefully.
Photography has the possibility to open up the world to people. My dream is to travel the globe, meet people and tell their stories. I want pictures to inspire people to travel, to breathe new air and usher adventure into their lives. I want to use my photography to bridge worlds, to make our planet a smaller, cozier and more connected place for all of humankind. I want people who can't travel to see the world, see the people and empathize with them. I love how the world offers us endless photo opportunities with its vastness and diversity. I will never tire of taking pictures because the more I look, the more I see the possibilities. This is the beauty of photography; a picture can make you see a place differently, to see beauty where you thought there was none. To take a picture is to put a stamp on a moment, to claim a small piece of earth and capture it as a piece a heaven.

About shayna

One of my favorite pictures by far, without asking, these guys just start wrapping scarves on your head, telling how badly your life must be lacking if you don't have one of these. And blue! well blue is definitely your color.
