You've heard my story before: American girl with an office job craves adventure and excitement, so she moves to the other side of the world. But I'm not trying to be Elizabeth Gilbert, finding meaning and a renewed sense of purpose through subsidized travel in comfortable places. Nor am I attempting to join the troves of backpacking hippies wandering between full moon parties and meditation retreats.
So what am I doing?
I'm living in Chiang Mai, learning Thai, cooking vegetables from the market, and trying to glean as much insight into the local culture of normal everyday life. Guess what? It's not boring.
