I was bitten by a travel bug but had to keep it on hold due to limited resources & priorities.
My travel plans were a subject of joke with the family & friends.
At the age of 45, for a person who had never stepped outside my country,
plans to travel alone was seen as a joke.
Every morning my daughter would ask “ Mom, which country have you visited last night?” And son would add “ Mom, come into my dreams, I would show you the world.”
So one fine day I decided, enough is enough. Selected Bali Indonesia as my destination after watching a newly married couple from a popular serial zooming off to bali for their Honeymoon. I was wondering how they get visa
so quickly? N that’s when to my great delight I realized that Bali is a VISA On Arrival destinations.
Done with all the bookings, on 25th April 2012 I started my journey.
Flew to Chennai from Goa & reached there in the evening. Had special
Filter Kaapi (coffee) outside the Airport. It was yummy. That Aroma still lingers into my mind. It’s taste was divine. Most delicious coffee I ever had.
My flight was early morning with Malaysian Airlines. Oh Yes, the same mystery Airlines. Aircraft was full of South Indians zooming off to KLM.
Theres was so much noise but never the less I fell asleep after the food n drinks were served.
When I opened my eyes early in the morning, the first sight was beautiful pink sky . I had actually landed on a foreign land KLM. I pinched myself to check if it was a dream.
Malaysia will always be dear to my heart.
My connecting flight was in the afternoon. I was so hungry. Grabbed myself a bar of chocolate from Airport stores.
The small Aircraft from KLM to Bali was new & had posh interiors compared to previous jet I had traveled.
At last I made it to Bali… Bali here I come … My heart screamed with joy .
Yessssss I did it …. I reached Bali.
Thoroughly enjoyed being myself on a foreign land for the first time in my life …
Those 5 days were divine… Food … shopping … Temples … bikes ….
You name it n I experienced it on a foreign land for the first time & 0n my own.
And Yes I did call my Kiddos to inform that I reached safely & my dream had become a reality.
And this was only the beginning for me. The whole world is waiting for me.
