Seek Experiences - Thailand: Beyond getting high

THAILAND | Wednesday, 6 November 2013 | Views [318] | Scholarship Entry

Many movies have given us a picture of Thailand as a hub for drugs, sex tourism etc. But a real traveler will easily be able to understand the soul of Thailand which lies in the religion, temples, monks etc. And that is what I've tried to establish through this film. I've featured a Buddhist monk in the film, whom I got acquainted through a fellow traveler from Australia.
I'm an engineering student whose real passion is filmmaking. I've written and directed 4 short films. One of my short films have been screened in the Thailand International film destination festival-2013. After my graduation next year, I'd like to pursue my studies in film making and hopefully I'll be able to make my own feature film in a few years.
Like any other participant, for me too winning this scholarship will mean a lot. Firstly, it will be my first step towards a bigger scenario of filmmaking. Also, since I've never received any kind of professional training in filmmaking, this scholarship will definitely boost my filmmaking talents. And finally as a traveler, who wouldn't want to go for a filmmaking trip to a place you've never visited, interact with the local people and participate in their activities.
