The Hidden Rose

Five months after high school graduation my best friend and i set out on an adventure of a lifetime, where for one year we experienced a small part of what the world had to offer. Great ocean road in Australia, buddhist temples of Thailand, Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Halong Bay in Vietnam. Next, after a year in Japan, climbing Mount Fuji, venturing over to China to explore the Great wall, the coloseum in Rome, the pyramids of Egpyt, yet nothing could compare to the ancient, hidden realm of Petra. As you enter the Siq it narrows and the walls jet up hundreds of meters as the yellow, red, brown, orange colors of the walls welcome you to your first glimpse of the treasury. This could have been the climax, but then to discover the red-rose city behind it is unbelieveable. In a country of vast desert, isolation, and ancient civilizations, it would have been a marvel to see Petra in the 6th century BC. Hand carved out of the cliffs a monestary sits high above the city in the mountain to stand watch. Although a picture can never re-create an ancient wonder such as petra, it rekindles the human mind to remember it and experience it once more. I have always found the value in pictures especially in capturing a foreign place or idea. My passion is traveling! Everytime i think about going for dinner or wasting my money on small things I think about how i could put that money toward a trip somewhere. I love to go to a place and experience it! All of it! The local people, the food, the culture, the traditions, the landscape. I love to be in it, be a part of it and not just sit on the sidelines. My photography class last year taught me how to use photoshop. However, i want to learn how to use my camera to really take a photo, capture a moment and learn from the best.
