Postscript: What's with the shutters?

FRANCE | Friday, 28 September 2012 | Views [160]

Gotten some questions  "whats with the shutters"?

Every house in southern France has wooden shutters - which are managed to control heat, breezes and chill.

Close the shutters (with windows left open) at beginning of day to keep the hot sun from heating up the room.

Open shutters as evening comes, covering open windows with sheer curtains to keep out the bugs.

Close and lock shutters & windows when leaving the house for any length of time.

As our home exchange partners said - - managing the shutters is a full time job. See photos
