Inside Heliópolis

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Brazil | Friday, January 11, 2013 | 5 photos

I use photographs as my journal and I try to carry one of my cameras (one is a small cybershot the other a Canon T3i) everywhere in case I stumble something interesting. Is a bit complicated in a city as São Paulo but I believe in taking risks. I'm not afraid of different places or cultures and I'm not the one to jump for conclusions before knowing things. I studied cinema and still photography at the University of São Paulo (which is public, free and very hard to get in) but learned everything I know with my peers and practicing. The people I got to know and work with that were truly amazing. I earn my money working as a video editor and save to travel and take pictures. I don't have a favorite subject but my favorite model is my pinscher, a celebrity in flicker. The last two main series I shot were the athletes at the first women only competition of pelota basca in Chile (I played too, lost all the games, still fun because of the people) and the favela of Heliópolis in São Paulo while shooting a short documentary for the Whypoverty project. I would love the chance to learn from a pro. It would be great to have a chance to learn and follow an experienced pro.
