Well, I’ve arrived with only a bit of an adventure.
Flew out on a Wednesday, that became Thursday as I headed east.
Usually I can sleep on flights without any trouble. However, we had a
baby cry off and on for the entire 9 hour flight...not a chance for
sleep with that piercing cry.
3 hours layover then off to Brussels, Belgium. At Heathrow, it
takes 20 minutes to get out to the runway...just before takeoff, a
hydraulic system failed. Back to the terminal and a 2 hour wait for a
replacement aircraft. Finally, we took off!
Arrived in Brussels & checked in...they overbooked economy and I'm on
standby. Just before they started boarding, My name is called and I
am upgraded to Business Class. Good things can happen to people
traveling internationally.
I arrived in Tel Aviv at 1 AM Friday morning local time, waiting an
hour for luggage. You guessed it, my luggage didn't make the
transfer. I was prepared for this and packed extra clothes in my
carry-on. Two days later, my luggage arrived.
I feel like I'm home. Though I don't speak Hebrew, I get along well
with English. I do plan on Hebrew lessons while here.
My work now is physical rather than mental. Being about 1000 meters
above Haifa harbor (along with the manual labor), I'm sleeping well
at night. There is no elevator and five floors so I'm getting cardio as
well - better than a stair master.
