I had been a journalist for a while and when I was asked to go to Cherry Grove to interview folks about coastline erosion, I fell in love with the small, tightly-knit community of Cherry Grove. What started as an article about the damages of erosion ended up being a love affair with a relatively-unknown part of Fire Island.
