Bipolar Seattle A place where a sunny morning can quickly turn into something gloomy and ominous.

About seeingisbelieving

My photos came from my first weekend with a DSLR. I chose these because even though I have developed as a photographer since, I wanted to show you how I started. I am not yet the most accomplished photographer, but I might be the most willing to learn.

I received my first camera (other than my phone) for Christmas this year. I come from a council estate which has been described as a ‘hub for drug use, crime and anti-social behaviour’ as well as ‘socially and economically deprived’. Photography has become an escape.

For me photography’s power can be epitomized by Kevin Carter’s Pulitzer piece. Almost a decade later and it’s still a talking-point. It’s a photo that holds a wealth of meaning.

I want to collect interesting stories from around the world. I want to inspire, to inform and open eyes to a world of differences. I want to dig out stories that amaze, horrify, sadden and carve themselves into the memory of the viewer. I know I have it in me to tell a great story. I am asking you for the tools to help make me a great story-teller. This chance could be the making of someone like me.
