My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

This quote from Jack Kerouac’s On The Road defines me: “Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road.” I’m a RMIT Photo Imaging student on a journey through life portraiture and documentary photographer. My love for photography actually began when studying journalism. I wanted to be a writer because I considered myself a storyteller. However I discovered that words weren't my forte and that I could tell an even greater story with one image rather than a thousand words. Instead of continuing study, I travelled to Japan where my skills was put to the test.
It’d been a long time since I’ve travelled internationally, but I was lucky enough to make my way to The Philippines at the end of last year. The journey overseas inspired me to create a blog to share my experiences. I learnt many things such as: time and patience is everything, framing is key (change it, and you can change the story completely) and the courage to take a chance will open doors to getting that shot. The opportunity to travel to Oman would let me keep up the practice as well would be a great honour to work under a mentor.
