I am a creative writing student, born in Ireland, but I've been studying in England for the last 9 months –– this may be the longest time I've stayed put in a country which is frightening. I'm an all round culture vulture. Art, music, history, nature, you name it I want some of it. I love taking pictures -- it helps jog my memory while I write, but I love spotting quirks in architecture or capturing daily life through a tourists eyes whilst in a new country.
I love to read while I'm travelling, or if I'm on a train -- my favourite mode of transport -- it's my chance to discover some new music, watch the countryside pass by, and usually some stroke of inspiration hits me for a new story to write.
I've usually travelled by myself but I’ve always met new people along the way. I think that's the beauty of travelling. You're out of your comfort zone and you challenge yourself to make new friends. Often being alone and experiencing a new place can be fun, but it's most memorable when you can share it with another person.
If I could pick any journey to go on next it would be the Trans-Siberia train, fly from there to South America and then head up to Scandinavia -- a bit of a loop de loop route but it seems right in my mind.
