4. Kathmandu’s World Heritage sites are notable for their high level of integration in people’s daily activities. Here a fruit vendor displays a wide range of produce at the base of a temple. A second vendor specializes in dry fish while motorcycles cruise by in the upper left corner.

3.Thousands of pigeons nest in the ancient temples and nearby houses and it is customary for both local people and tourists to feed them.

5. One of the distinctive hallmarks of Newar architecture is its elaborate woodcarving which can be observed in numerous dwellings in the older sections of Kathmandu city. Here families are keenly observing the activities of one of the major religious festivals.
