Euro Trip 2010

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Worldwide | Tuesday, November 8, 2011 | 3 photos

The three photos I decided to upload are part of a set of arches in Europe. Last year I visited Europe for the first time, and with regards to photography, I was like a kid in a candy store for the first time. The three scenes were shot in London, Paris and Berlin a few days apart. The unique thing about the London scene is that the photograph was taken in front of Marble Arch, and not of the arch itself. This is how the Arch views Oxford street, as opposed to how Oxford Street views the arch. The other two pictures were taken of Brandenburg Gate and Arc De Triomf from street level. They were all long exposures to create a feeling of movement and show how busy the cities are.

I am extremely passionate about photography and am constantly chasing THE perfect shot. I moved to Australia from South Africa before I could fully hone my skill and I would love the opportunity to return to the country of my birth and learn how to photograph it from a professional. I have experienced much of the beauty with my eyes but not with my camera. I've spent the past year perfecting my craft and I have learnt a lot but now I am ready to move onto the next level. This opportunity is a once in a life time and I feel with the knowledge gained in this scholarship, I can pursue my dream of becoming a professional photographer. Making money from my passion. I would be truly happy to go through life taking photos and helping people view the world through my eyes.
