My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

United States Outlying Islands | Wednesday, October 6, 2010 | 4 photos

My photos were taken during a trip to Lake Keowee, South Carolina in the summer of 2009. Each of the photos holds a special place in my heart; they all trigger memories from my summer visits to this beautiful lake. I believe I should be chosen for this scholarship because my outlook on photography is unique, and I have a profound love for the outdoors. My photos describe who I am as a person because I take pleasure in photographing scenes that have meaning to me; I have been taking this trip for years, and Lake Keowee represents pieces of my childhood and my family. I became seriously involved in photography and bought a new camera in May of 2009. Lake Keowee was the first place I was able to capture on film.
Every summer I enjoy the view from our balcony and watch the sunrise over the lake. On a typical day, the dock and canoe lay waiting for my return as I journey to the waterfall to enjoy a day of swimming, volleyball and the peaceful sound of water trickling down the rocks. Finally, every night ends on one of the numerous islands in front of a campfire, and I watch the sunset over the trees of another island far off in the distance.
