Most Cambodian children never experience their childhood, many of them work to help feed the family. Luckier ones have to work in the fields or sell trinkets to tourists in the streets of Phnom Penh, while many young girls are sent to brothels by their families.

After spending all day at regular school, children come running into the orphanage classroom for their English lesson. Many of them want to spell words even during playtime, as if at such young age they are already aware of the importance of education in order to rebuild the nation after the horrors of the Pol Pot regime.

The only way this girl can attend her local village school is by taking her two-year-old brother along, while the parents are working in the fields. The boy sits quietly in a single class of 150 students, immitating everything they do.
