Bull Taming(Jallikattu) - A 2000 year old sport in South India

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

India | Friday, January 11, 2013 | 5 photos

Photography took roots in me as a kid when my dad first allowed me to click his old box shaped Agfa camera. I still vividly remember being mesmerized upon seeing my printed shot. The feeling of having created something was immense! When Dad bought a new camera, I ended up with the old Agfa – my prized possession which led me into the amazing world of photography.

My interests in photography took newer dimensions as I grew up. I realized how a photo could captivate the viewer and at the same time utter a thousand words.

Though I’m an IT entrepreneur, I'm also an active Rotarian, involved in local community projects like public health, empowerment of women etc. in my hometown. When it comes to social issues, I feel the society lacks awareness. With my limited photographic skills, I try addressing these issues and try to make people think.

It will be like a dream come true if I get this unique scholarship. Getting to work alongside a veteran like Jason Edwards and to learn from him first hand is beyond my comprehension. If I’m fortunate enough in getting this scholarship, I can take my skill level a notch higher and effectively work towards my social objective with better shoots.
