On Saturday I decide to go to the park to do my homework. It was a really nice little walk and the park was cute. The middle section was fenced off and it had all types of animals. There were flowers everywhere and benches for enjoying the beautiful scenery. I think it’s really cool that they designate parks in so many parts of the city and keep them green. It’s nice to be able to escape the city life and just be in nature sometimes. That night I went to Bar Iruña (famous for inspiring Hemingway’s “The Sun Also Rises”) with Samantha, Christina, and Erin. I got a coffee with them and then water when they changed to wine. We talked and hung out which was pretty nice because we will be spending the next week together in Barcelona. Earlier that night I had put together an Easter basket (gift bag) that I had brought with me for the family. It had peeps, jellybeans, a Hershey’s medley, Reese’s eggs, and candles. I made a little card to go with it and put it in the kitchen after everyone had gone to sleep so they’d be surprised the next morning. I’m not sure exactly what it was, some kind of combination between the coffee I had drunk and the anticipation of the family opening the gift, but I couldn’t fall asleep until 5:00 am. I felt like a little kid waiting for Santa on Christmas. It was really weird. I heard the family wake up around 10:00 am and I couldn’t fall back to sleep so I got up and met them in the kitchen. They were really excited and greeted me with “Felices Pascuas.” They liked all of the candy which was good because I was afraid they weren’t going to like it. At 1:00 pm I met Christina, Erin, and Erin’s madre for a Catholic Easter mass. It was interesting to be in a Catholic cathedral knowing how much history there was and how many people had worshiped there in the past. The service was really nice and I actually understood some of it. It was nice to be in a church on Easter even if I couldn’t be with my family.
