Wow, so it’s been forever since I updated this. Lots of stuff has been happening here so you would think I would write more, but I just haven’t been able to find the time or the motivation lately. I’m just going to pick up where I left off and try to catch up eventually! So this is starting with some weekend at the beginning of April:
Friday night I decided to stay in and watch movies with my padres. Saturday was a really nice day and my padres went to visit Amparo’s father for the day. I stayed at the house by myself and it was actually nice to have time alone. I watched “El Diablo viste a Prada” (The Devil Wears Prada) in Spanish and although I really didn’t understand a lot of it, I got the main idea. I realized that as long as a movie has a lot of action I can understand the basic plot. The problem comes in when the movie is really character-based with lots of dialogue. The sound on the movie was just really bad too in the sense that they would say everything before the person even opened their mouth. I guess that’s what happens when they dub movies sometimes. It was kind of like watching the Reds on TV, but listening to the radio where they say everything before it happens and it’s just annoying. Man, I miss watching the Reds on TV and listening to Marty and whoever his partner happens to be at the time. Anyway, I made myself a sandwich, watched the movie “Scoop” in English, and then met my friend Ashley in the Plaza. The weather was really nice and we just walked around the city stopping in random stores and looking around even though we knew we weren’t going to buy anything. Later we ran into Whitney, Courtney, Jess, and Carla (other girls in the program) and we all had coffee together at a little café. Afterwards we made a grocery trip to El Corte Ingles and made plans for later that night. After dinner I got ready to go out for the night and met the girls in the Plaza. We walked to Taryn’s apartment (another girl in the program) and hung out there with Jackson and Taryn for a while. I really like just hanging out with everyone. We tell lots of stories, laugh, and just have a good time. Later we headed to an Irish pub called The Harp where Taryn and Terry work. It is the bar where all of the English speakers in the city go to hang out. I personally would rather meet Spanish people than people who speak English, but I think it’s just a lot more comfortable to find someone you have something in common with. I headed back pretty early because I don’t really like the loud, crowded, smoky bar atmosphere, but overall the weekend was really fun hanging out with everyone!
