Ferry number 9 and the trade of diesel for right of passage. Small children swim in the water but adults are afraid and hold on tightly to the car.

The eastern escarpment of Madagascar and the beginning of an expansive plateau. The rocks of these mountains are shared with India, having only broken off from Madagascar approximately 65 million years ago.

Flourishing 'Traveller's Palm' in the east still abundant with water. A Jurassic rainforest on highly deformed rocks thought to have reached over 900 C during the amalgamation of Gondwana around 580 million years ago.
