is it solstice or is that tomorrow. going go over what i lost. so some repeat here. but i want it for my own log later. so skip on if read enough with overview.
so there i was at Ginas in Phrae. fowl farm bit noisy through the night with geese or ducks or roosters taking turns waking each other. but lovely lovely place. she make OJ for me in morn and we chat brief. works month on oil rig off AU then month home.
cool morn. really grateful for not as much high hills as had anticipated. chose to go on to next town when left the close one at 9 30 ish. did pretty well strong enough but a 90 k day. long for me. on hiway as before not alot of passing through towns or where there is much if any street commerce. so took awhile to find some lunch. up down up down big trees little valleys of agriculture truck farms more then plantations of anything. citrus and cabbage. summited into Nan province. still up down but more downs. come to tourist info place. no longer office but some food stalls. a yummy and needed roasted egg. getting real weary and more miles i counting. finally to town. then the chase a hotel.
oddly the word i have come to recognize as hotel is a different one here. even 'resort' isnt same. though can see what the places are by various hints. beds shown or 24 hours. ask a store, womyn offer lead me one. 'just up the road' Up being the operative word and more then 'just'. however did arrive. thankfully. so Ready! be done. out to find food. pot of soup selling on some ones porch they laugh but happy to serve me and we 'converse' enjoy the encounters.
next morn off earlish. not very far to go now. It is Cold! and again no food close. go off into Little town, soup and older womyn let me sit by her cook fire and warm hands. taking it very slow today. stop big old walmart/costco type place. kind of mall like inside. went in to warm and needed to replace that lock.
on to town and oh yeah, hotel pursuit. spendy and full. many bangkok tourist come for weekend. is a lovely touristy destination. more wats ( temples) to the square inch then most towns. some lovely ones. and history. a portion of wall left built in mid 1300s. end up at Nan Guest house. really nice accommodating folk. gave me little 'room' in their full place. barriered off a end of hall. open to air really nice actually and put mattress and all.
head out look around abit. find market for morning papaya. as walking home see cyclist, hale him and yes what do you imagine. it is Keith. the man who had contacted me about his interest in doing this same route and would i like company? sure. so meeting up and we did! kind of amazing. plans to meet the next day, which s now today. so will write new blog for today.
