My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

India | Sunday, June 30, 2013 | 5 photos

I am an amateur nature photographer and my particular interest has been bird photography. When I recall our childhood vacations, I remember visits to various forts and palaces in India. I was never satisfied with the typical vacation pictures my father clicked and would insist on clicking some shots myself. Those were the days of the film camera.. I was also always a huge fan of a TV series called ‘Planet Earth’, by Marty Stouffers and envied his luck. In 1999, I stumbled upon a WWF invite for a nature walk in Mumbai to see the rare Karvi flowers which bloom once in 8 yrs. Something within me stirred. A forest right in my backyard!! Wish I had found it earlier.

Slowly I also took to photography, writing, conservation and awareness activities.
From the Greenland assignment, I look forward to the excitement of visiting Greenland and learning more photography skills, also the fact that the assignment is not just about wildlife but also people and landscapes- areas in which I have never been satisfied about my photographs. Lastly, I intend to document the biodiversity and the life of locals. Is there a harmony and symbiosis or a man-animal conflict like in most parts of the world?
