Thought We'd Disappeared

Hello

It’s been a while but we haven’t totally disappeared off the face of the planet; we have however hidden ourselves out of contact but in paradise in Vava’u, Tonga in the South Pacific.  We have been here for nearly 3 weeks and it has absolutely flown by.  We have both qualified as open water divers and really enjoyed exploring the most amazing marine life.  The colours are totally awesome, with the most weird and wonderful fish, coral and starfish.  On my dive yesterday, admittedly only in the harbour as it was another training dive, we found a Prada bag, with a heavy wallet of Australian coins!

For Nigel’s birthday, Ali (Lizzie’s friend she met out here) caught and cooked a pig and produced a delicious feast and organized a party on the dock.  We had such a brilliant night.  NG was crowned with a palm leave crown and made a speech, having been presented with an enormous chocolate cake, made at the café up the road.

As a birthday treat I orgainsed for us to do a karting safari through the rainforest, grassy fields and up to the most gorgeous cliff top look outs.  The only catch was that we went in a double kart and Nigel being Nigel found it highly amusing hitting every muddy puddle as fast as possible, totally covering us head to toe.  This combined with totally overgrown grass that towered 2 foot above us as we ploughed it down made the most almighty mess which could only be sorted by jumping in the sea.  It was hilarious and perfect for a Man’s birthday when he’s still a kid at heart.

Other than the diving and partying we have chilled out, read books, popped to gorgeous beaches and totally enjoyed relaxing and meeting amazing, interesting people.  Everyone here seems to have a storey to tell.  It would make a wonderful soap opera!!

So Sydney next week and home 2 weeks Saturday…….  :-(   /  :-)

It sounds like you're having a wonderful end to your trip. I've really enjoyed catching up on your latest entries. London is going to be SO boring by comparison but I suspect that you're looking forward being home. I spoke to Grandma today who can hardly contain her excitement about the party on 1st June. She said that she had just picked up a message you left on her answer phone saying 'Happy Easter' - her phone had been out of order!
