My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

As a child I was always fascinated with visual art, almost as much as my passion for discovering new and alien places, cultures, and people. Travelling is said to broaden the mind, and I've found that statement to be 100% accurate in my experiences so far. That said it has come at a price; I was at first very shy and so pushing myself to the extremes was something I did entirely by myself with the mind-set that I would benefit hugely from it. I have since travelled as much as possible and used photography as a medium for expression and communication over the years. Photography for me has an incredible approach of objectively expressing feelings, landscapes, and untold stories, it's a beautiful vehicle for the viewer to delve deeper into the subject matter and to take from it what they will. I always strive to do the person, animal or landscape justice when taking the shot and would love nothing more than an opportunity to really push myself and to expand my knowledge. Over the years I have gradually built up a portfolio of my work, including filmmaking, and I hope to eventually find myself in the position whereby I can incorporate photography into my daily life far more.
