My name is Sam Wrigley and I’m a 20 year old photographer. I have always had a passion for story telling; I love the idea that one can influence another person’s feelings. For me, photography has always been my chosen medium, it allows me to express myself in ways I otherwise couldn't have. I struggle with the traditional means of communication, so when I discovered photography it suddenly felt like I'd found my way.
Over the years I've tried to push myself as a photographer; broadening my horizons to the different possibilities of creativity and technical ability. Along the way, I feel I've developed a strong personal style, which I'm conscious could end up holding me back in progressing as a photographer. I want to increase my versatility and be able to draw on a range of different skills, rather than just relying on what I all ready know.
I feel I have a strong creative ability but perhaps my technical skills let me down. Being chosen for this competition would give me a great opportunity to be taught the technical side of photography. Everything I’ve learnt so far has been purely self taught; gaining that extra knowledge would really boost my confidences levels in my ability.
